Dr Tünde Szabó admits the organization of the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest and Balatonfüred will be a great challenge for Hungary. Secretary of State for Sport of the Ministry of Human Resource highlighted that the FINA World Champs is among the most important sport events in the world, just like the olympic games and the football world cup.
„The Organizing Committee, led by government commissioner Dr Miklós Seszták and president of the Hungarian Swimming Federation as well as vice president of FINA Tamás Gyárfás, are working hard to make sure that the World Championships will be a very successful event” – Dr Tünde Szabó said just after having opened the FINA/HOSA Open Water Swimming World Cup and the Olympic Swimming Festival in Balatonfüred on Saturday.
Former great swimmer Dr Tünde Szabó said the government ragards sport as a national affair in Hungary, and therefore it secures big resources for developing sport institutions.
„Day of Hungarian Swimming is a good mix of professional and amateur sport, and the World Cup is one of the last chance for the athletes to prepare for the olympic games.”
